Motivated by the number of fresh faces on Capitol Hill, as well as the recently announced broadband stimulus program, attendees turned out in force to meet with policymakers during the ACA's 16th Annual Summit held last week at National Harbor, MD. Attendance climbed to 286 attendees representing 150 companies compared to last year's 266 attendees from 130 companies. Operator attendees participated in 155 meetings with policymakers to tout how small and medium-sized operators are ideal candidates for receiving much of the $7.2 billion in grant and loan funding to carry out Congress' and the Administration's broadband deployment goals.
ACA Summit trip winner Ken Johnson had the following to say about the Summit: "Just a quick note to say a big thanks to the ACA for selecting our Company's story and allowing us to attend the Summit. As a first timer, I found the conference to be well organized, dynamic, and informational. The resort was awesome as well. This was also my first time formally lobbying in a Congressman's office, so all of that insight was highly valuable as well. Again, thank you for including us. We will try to make it a priority next year and the years to come. Sincerely, Ken Johnson" Ken is General Manager of Conneaut Telephone Company/CableSuite541, Inc.
ACA's work on your behalf continues throughout the year, we thank everyone who made this special week such a great success!

What is the Digital Television Transition? On June 12, 2009 all full-power broadcast television stations in the United States will stop broadcasting on analog airwaves and begin broadcasting only in digital. Digital broadcasting will allow stations to offer improved picture and sound quality and additional channels, and also will free up airwaves for use by emergency responders.
