ACA Names Attorney Mary Lovejoy V.P. Of Regulatory Affairs

New Hire Bolsters ACA’s Legal Team In Washington, D.C.

PITTSBURGH, July 6, 2015 - The American Cable Association is pleased to announce that attorney Mary Lovejoy has joined the organization as Vice President of Regulatory Affairs, a new position designed to strengthen ACA's legal and policy advocacy in Washington, D.C.  Lovejoy began her ACA career on July 1.

"We are delighted that Mary is joining us at ACA because the independent cable community's involvement in the regulatory arena is growing deeper and more complicated by the hour. In her new role, Mary will help ACA advance a policy agenda focused on ensuring that laws and regulations accurately reflect the needs of all communications providers, especially smaller ones," ACA President and CEO Matthew M. Polka said.

Lovejoy's new responsibilities will include advocating on ACA's behalf before federal agencies, particularly the Federal Communications Commission.  Specifically, she'll help develop policy positions, prepare regulatory filings, and make presentations to various agencies on behalf of ACA's membership. She'll also assist in keeping ACA members informed about relevant policymaking and compliance matters.  Lovejoy will report to Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Ross Lieberman.

Lovejoy comes to ACA after serving as an associate in the communications practice group at Mintz Levin Cohn Ferris Glovsky and Popeo in Washington, D.C., where she worked on policy and regulatory matters of interest to cable operators and broadband Internet service providers. In this position, she crafted legal and policy arguments on issues such as net neutrality, retransmission consent and other programming issues, and cybersecurity and privacy.

Prior to Mintz Levin, Lovejoy was an associate at Debevoise & Plimpton in Washington, D.C., as a team member in the Securities Litigation Practice Group.

Lovejoy received her J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School in June, 2008, and her B.A. from Cornell University in B.A, May 2002. She was admitted to the Washington, D.C., bar in 2009.
