PITTSBURGH, January 23, 2009 - The American Cable Association (ACA) congratulated Commissioner Michael J. Copps today for his selection as interim Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) by President Obama.  A two-term commissioner, Copps will temporarily head the FCC until the confirmation a new Chairman.  It has been widely reported that President Obama will nominate Julius Genachowski to fill that position.

"Commissioner Copps has been a fair and thoughtful voice on the Commission for years and his appointment is well deserved," said ACA CEO and President Matthew M. Polka.
